Here is a little story to tell about us, Myron and Betty Lapp, and how Lapp's Kuchen began. We had been in the grocery business for over 40 years. We added a full service bakery to our business about seven years ago. We made kuchen at that time, but we were not completely satisfied with the taste. It tasted too "boughten". There are a lot of very good German cooks in the area so we began to experiment with different recipes. We would take them to local business places for them to taste test. After a bit of tweeking, we designed a recipe we all liked. It didn't take long when the door flew open and our testers said "I don't know what you did this time but DON'T CHANGE IT"! We all agreed and thus Lapp's Kuchen was born.

We use only the best ingredients and technology for our products. What started as an item we made for our area customers, has grown into a four state area product. For several years, we have had the honor to serve our kuchen for the best kuchen critics, the International Convention of the Germans from Russia Heritage Society.

My brother helped serve kuchen when we introduced it at a "Marketplace" show in Bismarck. The majority of the people commented that it tasted just like their grandmother's kuchen. My brother said "you really ought to use that in your advertising". So here is our motto!!!
